Hearth of Haemonia

Magic of the Past for the Present

Hearth of Haemonia is Colloquia Media’s first project, a YouTube series which explores the world of ancient Greco-Roman magic, religion, and belief. Hearth of Haemonia presents the magic of the past for the present with the goal of providing useful and accurate information for those practicing witchcraft or paganism today. Many modern practitioners seeking to learn about ancient magic find barriers in academic publishing, training in the original languages, or access to quality resources. As a result, much of the information out there is inaccurate or incomplete. Hearth of Haemonia combines close reading of texts with analysis of archaeological evidence and sociological considerations. Hearth’s videos are accessible to a general audience, with the specific goal of providing quality resources for practitioners and enthusiasts.

Hearth of Haemonia is first and foremost a YouTube channel, supplemented by a website and social media. The website hosts blog posts, translations, and other resources for those interested in the ancient arcane.

Kate worked primarily on Greco-Roman magic in grad school, focusing on representations of magical practitioners in Latin poetry.
